SnackTab Privacy Policy

Effective 23 September 2026 · Applies to the SnackTab app for Android (com.snacktab.app) and its service.

The short version: SnackTab stores what you scan, decide and log so it can keep your tab. Food photos are sent to an AI service to identify the food. We do not sell your data, show ads, or use tracking or analytics SDKs. You can delete everything from inside the app at any time.

1. Who we are

SnackTab is made by Dev404System ("we", "us"). You can reach us at phillipbaden@gmail.com. We are the controller of the personal data described here.

2. What SnackTab does

You photograph food or scan a barcode. SnackTab estimates the calories and shows what they cost in minutes of exercise, worked out from your body weight. Treats go on a "tab", workouts you log pay it down, and meals are recorded without charge. One account can hold several family profiles, each with its own tab.

3. What we collect

Technical data: your device's time zone, app version, and the IP address and timestamps in our server logsYour deviceTo show "today" correctly, and to run and secure the service

4. How we use it

We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell or rent it, and we do not build profiles of you for anyone else. We do not currently use analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. If that changes, this policy will be updated first.

5. Legal basis (EEA and UK)

We process your data to perform the contract you enter when you use SnackTab (the features you asked for), and for our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and working. Where the law requires consent, for example to access your camera or photo library, the app asks you.

6. Who processes your data for us

ProcessorWhat they doWhere
SupabaseDatabase, sign-in and private photo storageFrankfurt, Germany (EU)
Amazon Web Services (App Runner)Runs our serverFrankfurt, Germany (EU)
Anthropic (Claude API)Identifies food in photos, reads nutrition labels, maps workout text to an activity. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, API inputs are not used to train its models.United States
Google PlaySells and bills the subscription; tells us its statusGoogle's infrastructure
Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData CentralProduct lookups. Only the barcode number is sent, never anything about you.France / United States

Transfers outside the EEA and UK (to Anthropic and, for lookups, USDA) rely on standard contractual clauses or the processor's applicable data-transfer framework.

One thing is shared with other SnackTab users: when you photograph a nutrition label for a barcode nobody has scanned before, the resulting nutrition facts (calories, sugar, serving size) are cached so the next person gets an instant result. The cached record contains the product's numbers only, never your photo, your account or anything about you.

7. How long we keep it

Everything is kept until you delete it. You can delete individual items from the Ledger and Meals screens, remove a family profile (which deletes their entire history), or delete your whole account. Deleted data is removed from our live systems immediately and from backups within 30 days. Server logs are kept for up to 30 days.

8. Deleting your account

In the app: tap your avatar, then Account, units & sign out, then Delete account. Or follow the steps on our account deletion page. Deleting the account removes your sign-in, profiles, photos, scans, tab, workouts and referral records. A Google Play subscription is managed by Google and must be cancelled in Google Play; deleting the account does not cancel it.

9. Children

SnackTab accounts are for adults (18 and over). An account holder may add family profiles, including for their children, and is responsible for that data. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and you can complain to your data protection authority. Most of this you can do yourself in the app; for anything else, email us from the address on your account. We answer within 30 days.

11. Security

Data travels over encrypted connections. Photos are stored in a private bucket that only your account and our server can reach. Database access is restricted per account. Nobody can read another account's data through the app or the API.

12. Not medical advice

Every number in SnackTab is an estimate. It is a snack decision helper, not a diet, medical or nutrition tool, and it never tells you what to eat.

13. Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, the app will tell you and the date at the top of this page will change. Old versions are available on request.
